From Antarctica we went back through the Drake Passage which was not quite so smooth. We passed Cape Horn and went through the Magellan Straits. Went to Ushuaia, Argentina which is the southernmost city in the world. However, there are a couple of small towns that are farther south, but they have 2000 or less poplulation and don't count. The Andes Mountains make for a beautiful backdrop for Ushuaia. It is a lovely location. We went on a tour to the Tierra del Fuego National Park. We saw a lot of birds, ducks, black and white swans, plus we were very fortunate to see a very rare red fox. The fox is about as big as our coyotes. Rabbits and beavers have been introduced to southern Argentina and Chile. There are not enough predators, so they are a big nuisance. The national park has pretty lakes--the border between Argentina and Chile runs through one of the lakes. We also got to the end of the Pan American Highway which goes all the way to Alaska. Some people drive it, some ride bikes, and some even walk the whole distance. It may take years to walk the whole highway.
