After leaving Malaga we made our way by train visiting several places across southern Europe. Spent a day sightseeing in Madrid. Then spent a day in Barcelona with dear friends Lorita June Hayes and her son Jonathan who was an excellent tour guide all over that city. It was a real treat to see them after 30 years! We went on to Avignon, France and to Marseille and Nice, Monte Carlo and then into northern Italy to Genova, Milano and Pardova and eventually to Venice. That was another week of train travel. When we got to Venice, all of our family arrived there too. We spent a couple days sightseeing around Venice and the area before our 12 day cruise took us to Dubrovnik, Croatia where we enjoyed walking on the top of the wall of the old city. Our next stop was the island of Corfu. We visited a monastery, Achilleon Palace and Prince Phillip's birthplace. Then on to Katakolon and Olympia to the ruins of the original Olympics. We got to run on the Olympic field which was 182 meters long. Also spent some time at a lovely beach atKarouta Bay before getting back on the ship. There had been rioting in Athens, but the day we got there, it had ceased and we were able to go to all the great sites around there. Rubbed shoulders with Jodie Foster and her family while at the Acropolis. We did get into some tear gas residue which caused burning to eyes, noses and throats, but not too bad. Charles thought he was being very careful, but one of his credit cards was pick pocketed while on a crowded train in Athens.

Our next stop was at Mykonos island. The kids had a lot of fun at the beach.
